IIT-Bombay Announced GATE 2021 Exam Dates; Two New Subjects and Relaxed Eligibility Criteria

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai has recently announced the dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be conducted on February 5 to 7, 2021, and February 12 to 13, 2021 next year. The examination will conduct in two shifts, from 9:30 to 12:30 AM and between 2:30 to 5:30 PM. Along with this, the institute has also made some changes this year to facilitate the students. Two new subjects will be introduced in the 2021 edition of the GATE Examination as well as IIT Mumbai announce relaxation of eligibility criteria.

Two New Subjects in GATE 2021

Two new subjects called Environmental Science and Engineering and Humanities and Social Sciences will be added to the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Thus, the total number of subjects has now increased to 27. Students applying for GATE 2021 can also choose two subject papers. Application Form and GATE updates are available on the official website https://gate.iitb.ac.in.

The GATE 2021 exam will have a computer-based multiple-choice question (MCQ). Examinees have to answer 65 questions for 100 marks within three hours of time. The paper will consist of general aptitude, engineering mathematics, and the core engineering area questions.

GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria Relaxation

As per the relaxed eligibility criteria of the GATE, the third-year students of graduation will also be eligible for GATE. Means eligibility is relaxed from the minimum 10+2+4 (ongoing) to 10+2+3 (ongoing). The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is held from Shimla to Human Resource Development or MHRD scholarship for admission to the postgraduation program in engineering or science. This examination conducts in eight regions across the country.

GATE exam is jointly done at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB). Earlier GATE 2020 was organized by IIT Delhi on February 1, 2, 8, and 9. After this, now GATE 2021 will be organized by IIT Mumbai.
