UGC’s Revised Guideline for University Exams; Aditya Thakre in Supreme Court Against UGC Decision

According to the recently released University Grants Commission (UGC) revised guideline, now out of 755 universities in the country, 366 universities can conduct examinations in August or September. Earlier, UGC had just sought information from the universities about the plan for the final year examination and there was a response from 755 universities. Keeping in mind the serious conditions of Corona, the UGC had issued a new guideline according to which all the universities in the country were ordered to conduct their final year or semester examinations.

UGC’s Revised Guideline for University exams

The UGC is still in favor of conducting examinations despite opposition from students and teachers regarding the guidelines issued on the other side. The bus commission has made it so clear that universities have been allowed to choose the method of their choice for conducting the examination. Now whether the university conducts final year exams online or offline or in mixed mode.

194 Universities Completed Exams

The UGC said that 274 private, 120 deemed, 40 central, and 321 state government universities are included in the report received from the universities. According to the information received, 194 universities have got these examinations, while 366 universities are planning to conduct them in August or September. The same and other students, parents, and state governments are constantly insisting on canceling the examinations.

University End Team Exam to be held before 30 September

The whole world is affected due to the Coronavirus epidemic. All the school-to-college level examinations have been affected across the country. While most of the school boards have canceled the examinations, the situation is not clear yet about the university examinations. Now the Central Government has decided to conduct final year or semester examinations in the university, in respect of which the UGC issued revised guidelines on 6 July. According to these new instructions, instructions have been given to complete the final year or semester examinations before September 30 in all universities.

Aditya Thakre in Supreme Court Against UGC Decision

After the decision of the Central Government, the Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra has reached the Supreme Court of the country regarding the instructions to conduct UGC final year student’s examination. Maharashtra minister Aditya Thackeray has challenged the UGC’s decision to conduct final year examinations in the apex court. However, the court has not yet accepted the petition for hearing. Students are also continuously protesting against this.
